When we invested
Today
Four years ago, we decided to explore a high-impact topic that had been largely overlooked by venture capitalists: wildfires.
OroraTech has three satellites in space, >30 global blue chip clients and signed international government contract worth EUR 50M.
Impact KPIs
The data below shows a subset of the Impact KPIs for OroraTech, updated to 12/2024.
508
million hectares of forest area protected (+245% growth compared to 2023)
Why it matters
Every year, wildfires destroy 30-40 million hectares of vegetation and create CO2 emissions of 8 Gt on average.
Catastrophic wildfires endanger whole ecosystems, cause biodiversity loss and water pollution. Air pollution caused by wildfires accounts for 340,000 deaths annually.
Response time of firefighting efforts is critical. The probability of containing a wildfire successfully is doubled when fire size is 20% smaller.
